In this guide, we walk you through the steps for configuring SIP extensions, ring groups, and call queues in Grandstream UCM. We will also cover how to configure IP phones and softphones to work with your UCM instance.
Create SIP Extensions in UCM
Step 1: Log in to the UCM portal
Use your credentials to log in to your Grandstream UCM instance.
Step 2: Navigate to Extensions
Go to the menu and select Extensions.
Step 3: Create a new Extension
Click the button to create a new extension and fill in the necessary information such as username, password, and SIP server address (sip.internetport.se).
Configure IP Phone or Softphone for UCM
Step 1: Retrieve SIP credentials from Internetport
Go to Internetport's customer portal, navigate to Services > My Services > [SIP-trunk] > Configuration Details to retrieve your SIP credentials.
Step 2: Open IP phone or softphone settings
Find and open the settings menu on your device.
Step 3: Configure SIP details
Enter the retrieved information in the fields for SIP server, username, and password. Use STUN server
stun.internetport.seif your device supports it.
Create Ring Group (Call Queue or Ring Group)
Step 1: Go to Call Queues/Ring Groups
Navigate to the menu and select Call Queues or Ring Groups.
Step 2: Create a new ring group
Click the button to create a new ring group and enter a name along with which extensions should be included in the group.
Configure Business Hours (Time Conditions)
Step 1: Navigate to Time Conditions
Go to the menu and select Time Conditions.
Step 2: Create new business hours
Click the button to create a new time condition setting and enter operating hours.
Assign DID Number to Extension (Group)
Step 1: Go to DID Numbers
Navigate to the menu and select DID Numbers.
Step 2: Configure DID Number
Select the DID number you want to configure and specify the ring group that should receive calls.
Configure voicemail per extension
Step 1: Go to Extensions
Navigate to the menu and select Extensions.
Step 2: Enable voicemail
Select the extension you want to configure and enable voicemail. Enter a greeting message if desired.
Common Issues
- Phone does not register: Check that SIP credentials are correct and that the phone has access to Internetport's SIP server.
- No incoming calls: Ensure that the DID number is correctly configured and linked to the right extension or ring group.
- Voice mail does not work: Verify that voicemail is enabled for the extension and that the greeting message is properly set up.
