This guide shows you how to configure spam filtering for email addresses in Plesk. You can choose to mark, delete, or move spam messages to a junk folder, and customize filter sensitivity and whitelist/blacklist settings.

How to Enable Spam Protection

  1. Step 1: Access Mail Settings

Log in to Plesk and click on Mail in the left sidebar.

  2. Step 2: Select Email Address

Select the email address on which you want to enable spam protection.

  3. Step 3: Enable Spam Filter

Go to Spam Filter and select the checkbox to switch on spam filtering for the selected email address.

  4. Step 4: Choose Spam Handling Method

Select one of the following options according to your preference:

    • Mark spam messages: Spam will be identified by a marker in the subject line
    • Delete spam messages: All spam messages will be permanently deleted
    • Move to junk folder: Spam emails will be moved to the junk email folder
  5. Step 5: Configure Advanced Settings (Optional)

Expand the Advanced Settings menu to access additional configuration options:

    • Spam filter sensitivity: Configure the sensitivity by entering a value (default is 7). Lower numbers increase sensitivity, higher numbers decrease it.
    • White list: Add specific email addresses or domains that should never be filtered.
    • Black list: Add specific domains or email addresses that should always be blocked.
    • Trusted languages and locales: Choose specific languages and locations that will always pass the filter.
    • IP addresses: Enter IP addresses that should be allowed to pass the filter.
  6. Step 6: Save Configuration

Click on OK to save your settings. You will receive a success message once the configuration is complete.
