A catch-all email account is a mailbox configured to receive all emails sent to non-existent addresses within a domain. This is useful for capturing emails with misspelled addresses or typos. Note that catch-all accounts can accumulate significant amounts of spam, so regular monitoring is recommended.
How to do it
-
Step 1: Access Plesk Mail Settings
Log in to your Plesk control panel using your credentials. Once logged in, navigate to the left sidebar and click on the Mail icon. This will take you to the main mail management page where you can manage all aspects of your email accounts.
-
Step 2: Open Mail Settings
On the Mail page, locate and click on the Mail Settings option. This will open a new window or tab where you can configure various settings related to your mail server.
-
Step 3: Select Domain
In the Mail Settings page, you'll see a list of all domains associated with your Plesk account. To set up a catch-all email for a specific domain, check the box next to that domain's name. This action selects the domain for which you want to configure the catch-all settings.
-
Step 4: Configure Non-Existent Users Mail
Scroll down or look through the options available in the Mail Settings page until you find Non-Existent Users Mail. Click on this option to configure what happens when an email is sent to a non-existent user within the selected domain.
-
Step 5: Set Forward Address
In the Mail for Non-Existent Users in Selected Domains section, you will see several options. To create a catch-all email account, click on the option that says Forward to address. This setting tells your server to forward all emails sent to non-existent addresses within the domain to a specified email address.
-
Step 6: Enter Catch-All Email Address
In the text box provided below the Forward to address option, enter the full email address that will act as your catch-all mailbox. For example, if you want all undeliverable emails to be sent to a mailbox named "catchall," you would enter "catchall@yourdomain.com." Ensure this email account already exists within your Plesk panel.
-
Step 7: Save Configuration
After entering the catch-all email address, click on the OK button to save and apply the new settings. This action activates the catch-all feature for the selected domain.
Tips:
- Regularly monitor your catch-all email account as it can quickly fill up with spam and unwanted emails.
- Consider setting up filters or using an anti-spam service to manage the influx of emails into your catch-all mailbox.
- If you no longer need a catch-all email account, you can disable it by returning to the Mail Settings page and selecting the option for non-existent users to bounce back with an error message instead of forwarding them.
